Our story began in 1955 when Billy Gillespie founded our business as a country store and service station on the County Highway 14 Bypass in Prattville. A year later, Billy added tire sales, setting the foundation for the trusted auto center we are today. The store moved to its current location in downtown Prattville at 132 Tichnor Avenue in 1964.

What started with one man is now a 3rd generation family-owned business. Billy’s son, Bill Jr., grew up working in the shop and successfully took over in 1983. When Bill Jr. was elected mayor of Prattville in 2011, his son, Bobby, took the reins. In 2020, Bobby’s sister, Kendall, joined the team, further strengthening the family commitment to Gillespie Tire & Automotive Service.

Over the decades, we have significantly expanded the services we offer, growing from a simple service station to the top comprehensive auto repair shop in Prattville, AL.
